Allison Gibbs is an artist, filmmaker and writer working on Dja Dja Wurrung country, Australia. She works with moving image to make films installations as well as texts and events that expand as fragments of overheard conversation spilling from her films. Her work assembles instances of alternative bodies of knowledge production—from extra sensory perception and film curses to post-genomic gut feelings and biopolitical healing, reframing images, sound and language into slow, unfixed encounters.


Allison holds a Doctorate from Monash University and a Master of Fine Art from The Glasgow School of Art. Her work has been presented in exhibitions and screenings internationally, including The Potter Museum of Art and ACCA, Naarm/Melbourne; Glasgow International Film Festival; CCA Glasgow; Inverleith House, Edinburgh; GOMA Glasgow; Minsheng Art Museum Shanghai; Nanjing International Art Festival, China and Dan Gunn, Berlin. Based in Scotland between 2008 and 2015, she was nomined for the Margaret Tait Film Award in 2014, has undertaken residencies in Marseille, Scotland, Lisbon and Vilnius and her writing has appeared in publications such as The Happy Hypocrite (Bookworks), London and Discipline, Naarm/Melbourne.
