Allison Gibbs is an artist working with moving image, writing, performance and group facilitation. She holds a PhD from Monash University. She obtained her MFA from The Glasgow School of Art, with an Erasmus exchange at The Piet Zwart Institute, Rotterdam, NL and completed her BFA(Hons) at The Victorian College of the Arts, Melbourne. 

Her work has been presented in exhibitions and screenings internationally, including ACCA Melbourne, CCA Glasgow, Minsheng Art Museum Shanghai, Nanjing International Art Festival, China, and in the Anselm Franke curated exhibition, Let the Body be Electric, Let There be Whistleblowers, with Ken Jacobs and Joachim Koester at Dan Gunn, Berlin. She has been nominated for Scotland’s Margaret Tait Film Award and granted residencies at Triangle Marseille, Hospitalfield, Scotland, The Barbershop (lead by Margarida Mendes), Lisbon and Rupert, Vilnius. Her writing has been published in Discipline, Melbourne, The Happy Hypocrite (Bookworks), London and Victor & Hestor, Scotland. 

Recent projects include the solo PhD examination exhibition, Wet Archives, at MADA Gallery,Monash University, Caulfield, a performance, Orificing as Method, commissioned by Liquid Architecture and text published by Discipline for OOO held in conjunction with the exhibition, Frances Barrett: MEATUS at ACCA.

 Forthcoming projects include a residency at ACMI’s Emporium Creative Hub (Bendigo, April/May 2024), and the development of her PhD thesis into a book, to be published by Discipline, Melbourne.
